Learn About Music
Music is our main focus! Campers will learn the basics of notes and rhythm, shown to them in a fun way. They will also experience presentations and concerts meant to allow them to experience many different aspects of music. One day will feature a trumpet concert, the next will allow your kids to see inside of our pipe organ and figure out how it works. Is your child interested in music and/or singing? This camp is meant to let that interest turn into something bigger!
Sing Together, Worship Together
Kids will have multiple opportunities each day to sing as a group, and learn how to be part of a choir. The members of our Youth Choir are excited to help lead some of the music sessions!
The end of each camp day will also feature a Bible-teaching moment led by a member of our Clergy.
Have Fun & Fellowship!
Campers will spend time each day going outdoors and doing some light recreation. A noon time lunch is offered daily.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be a member of Christ Church for my child to participate?
No! This camp is open to all kids aged 5*-11 who are interested in music.
Will my 5 or 6 year old fit in and be successful in this camp?
Some foundational reading skills are really helpful to our youngest campers. Additionally skills like being a good listener and following instructions are imperative for the success of your child and the group! If you think your child may not be ready this year, please sign them up next year! There are plenty of adult and youth helpers around to assist with things, and parents are welcome to stick around on campus during the week, if they feel that would be helpful.
What is the religious part of camp like?
The music we sing will be sacred and include fun “camp style” songs as well as more serious music by well-known composers like Mozart. We will also feature a short daily worship service led by our participants, and a Bible teaching moment, led by a member of our clergy. We will also talk about how music functions in a church service and work toward singing during our 11 am church service on the Sunday after camp concludes.
Are there scholarships available?
Not at this time, however there is a $10 discount for each subsequent child registered after the first.
Does my child have to have previous musical training?
Certainly not. This is a camp for exploration of music, with a hope that it will help your child develop a greater interest in participating in music on one way or another.
My child has been taking private lessons or involved in a musical ensemble now for a year or more. Will they be bored or too advanced for this?
Likely not. This camp has something for everybody. The music we will prepare is choral music, so we will all be singing as a choir together. That said, there will be many instrumental parts of camp like daily concerts and exploring inside the pipe organ. We will even climb to the top of our bell tower and explore the 17 bronze bells that ring out across Glendale daily. We will cover aspects of music like rhythm, pitches, intervals (using the solfege system), dynamics and others.
Is this Vacation Bible School?
No, but there are certainly many parallels. In this camp we will focus more on singing, learning and interacting. Don’t expect your camper to come home with art projects, but do expect them to come home singing some of their new favorite songs!
Is there recreation included?
Yes, we will take a recreation break each day at the mid-point and get an opportunity to go outside and play.
Are there ways for my child(ren) to be involved in music once this camp is over?
Absolutely! If your camper enjoyed what we did and how we did it, they are more than welcome to consider singing with our Youth Choir beginning in September. The choir rehearses on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:15 (snacks provided beforehand) and performs about once per month at the 9 am worship service. Youth Choir focuses on actually learning the skills of singing and music reading, rather than teaching via endless repetition and memorization. Youth Choir members will be on hand helping out during the week so you will get to meet them. Youth Choir is open to all kids aged 6-13 (some 5 year olds with above-average reading and participation skills may be admitted) regardless of church affiliation.
